We are a grassroots team from Margibi County with a mission to protect the endangered pygmy hippopotamus and its forest home. Founded to give Liberian youth a platform through sport, Hippo FC uses every match, every goal, and every training session to advance conservation. Our players are athletes and ambassadors. Our field is the community. Our opponent is extinction. What We Do 1. Football for Conservation We compete in the LFA system and host free community games. We chose the pygmy hippo as our name and mascot to make the species a source of pride for young Liberians. When we score, the forest wins. From 2026 to 2028, we plant 100 trees for every goal under our Four Birth Trees model. 2. Pygmy Hippo Habitat Protection Since 2016, our players have led Hippo Watch education in 6 villages across Margibi and Sinoe Counties. We teach families why the forest matters.
